INS Khukhri Diu
The land of India has witnessed various brave and courgeous personalities. The state of Gujarat and it’s near by regions are no exceptions. The union territory of Diu, Daman and goa which are majorly surrounded with Arabian Sea encountered a very sensitive incident related to the Indian naval ship named as INS KHUKHRI and its sailors. This Is the popular memorial situated in the fudam village approximately 4 kms away from the central diu. this ship was a TYPE 14 anti submarine warefare friget of Indian navy.
Inaugurated on 15th December of the year 1999, this memorial is a dedication to all those sailors who showed the act of bravery and pride by not surrendering to Pakistan when it got attacked by a salvo of three torpedoes fired by a Pakistani submarine named as PNS hangor on the 9th date of 12th month in the year 1971. This was one of the major incidents that occurred during the indo-pak war. The memorial has a replica of ship that got sunk and is covered with a glass show case. It speaks about the courageous decision taken by the sailors who chose to die with honour instead of surrendering against the enemies.
